Teachers Do Not Teach History... Teachers ARE History!
When I first started teaching (1972), a teacher was one who imparted knowledge to someone else - often it was to someone who actually was willing to learn, etc.
Then, as my years went on, I was told in an 'official' staff meeting, that we were no longer 'teachers' but we were being called 'change agents.' It was up to us to change our students, etc. To make them willing to learn what was best for them, etc. At that same meeting, it was mentioned that one of schools worst enemies were Christian parents.
Well, it didn't end there.
Eventually, the students were called the 'change agents' and it was their job to change their parents. Apparently the 'change agents had done a fine job because now it was time to get the kids to change their parents.
It must be going really well - if one looks at not only how schools have changed, look at how the homes have changed.
Well, the latest now is we are to be called "LEARNING COACHES." In other words, we are not to teach anything specific; no particular standard, certainly no 'boring' knowledge or facts, etc. It is our job to only 'assist' the kids as they will choose to learn what they want to learn; of course, that is all based on IF they even want to learn - so we must inspire them to 'want' to learn, but we are not to make them learn anything specific. Can you imagine how much learning you or I would have done if we had been allowed to learn what, when and if we had wanted?

Easter (and Christmas) Have Returned to Their Roots!
It seems that so many folks get so upset lately that Christmas and Easter are supposedly being stolen from the 'Christian scene' these days! More and more sermons are being preached, more and more books are being written about how these holydays (holidays) are being taken out of the public sector, etc.
Well, to make a potentially long and detailed teaching sermon into a short commentary, here ya go!
1) Nowhere - and I mean NOWHERE are we told to 'celebrate' or 'follow' Christmas and Easter. So if people think they are glorifying God during Christmas and Easter, they ought to do their own Bible study. Honestly, there isn't an ounce of truth to those, other then the obvious truth of Christ being born, crucified and being risen. You would think that those who do Easter as a Christian holiday would be thrilled to think they could learn the teachings of the RISEN SAVIOUR! After all, they are 'celebrating' his resurrection, so why not read and learn everything He has said to us AFTER His resurrection? You would think, eh!!!
2) If one were to do that study about the origination of Christmas and Easter, they would find EVERY cute little tradition has a pagan design. We are seeing almost a complete take over from Santa with his presents with the trees and pretty decorations for the Christmas season and the Easter bunny with 'new earth' and 'rebirth' of everything from clothes to the spring season along with eggs and what they represent, etc. taking over the Easter season!
It isn't the Islamic Ramadamians nuts that are taking over Easter and Christmas, it is the 'Christians' themselves that are bringing the pagan roots back to the forefront. Isn't that amazing how the devil uses deceived Christians? Look at their OT temple's they call churches, listen to their music that they are playing in their 'churches' and homes, look at how they are dressing these days, look at all those detailed traditions that they follow that come with those 'holy(i)days', etc.
3) Then there are those of us who 'are in the know' about the truth about Easter and Christmas. Boy, talk about family and relative splits, etc. Well, for me, I just look at Romans 14:16-20 and try my best to 'speak when spoken to' about these 'seasonal celebrations' - knowing full well that these days are close to II Timothy 4:2-5 so even if I do try answer their questions, they will not endure my answer anyway.
So, I just go ahead and accept their presents and eat their colored and 'deviled' eggs along with their ham and hot cross buns. But I will also remember those verses that taught me the Word being made flesh and then dwelt among the Jews. I will also remember the words that He spoke to the Jews through the apostles as well as Himself. But I will mostly remember what He continues to speak to me AFTER His resurrection - and will enjoy my own joy, peace and assurance as I continue to learn about the goodness of God!
And, if they ever want to know more, I will still be glad to try and tell them!
