Bible Verses 'for' Us Today from Jeremiah
Yes, of course I know we must turn to Paul ONLY for the Scriptures that are written TO us today. And yes, it is totally true that there are many great differences between Jeremiah's teachings and Paul's. It is OT vs NT. But also without a doubt, we can still learn some great things from Jeremiah. Jeremiah's message to Israel was that they were rejecting God's words - and that is the same message that Paul puts TO the Gentiles today. So, if we look to some quotes from the Book of Jeremiah, we can see some great wording that was not only appropriate in Jeremiah's day, but would be appropriate to say to Gentiles today!
So, as I try to portray in the 'header' illustration, I show Paul, represented on the left,
still eating the grasses today while Jeremiah has finished eating.
How's that for appropriate imagery! :-)
- Remember, Paul's words are TO us and Jeremiah's words are FOR us! -

Make sure you note:
Paul and Jeremiah do both preach different results from rejecting God's words during their day!

We see totally different 'potential results' from Jeremiah, of course. If God's people didn't obey Jeremiah's words, they were in big trouble and in a short time following their rejection. But when we reject Paul's words today, we see two potential results.
- 1) from the sincere Christian, who is dead 'to' sin, their judgment seat will be only of their works that they chose to do by either following or rejecting God's words concerning their manner of life; but the results do not 'remove' or 'keep' that person from being with God in eternity! Their 'sins' paid for and washed away - and any 'new' ones were never imputed to them!
- 2) the lost person will be judged 'in' their sins' and will be deemed unclean and doomed for eternity - no matter how good those works were - because they never received the circumcision of Christ - thus still dead 'IN' their sins.
- 3) In the mean time, being in the dispensation of God's grace, nobody (lost or saved) will see any of God's judgment 'now' - or soon after their disobedience / rejection, etc. Romans 2 tells us that God is storing up those 'sins' for the lost person for their time of judgment. We see in I Cor 3 that even though there are no 'sins' to be judged from a Christian because they are not imputed, our works will still be judged in a fire.
P.S. - You won't find this stuff said any better in any other book,
bible study, video, etc. than in a 1611 King James Bible!

Maybe you might think that I am guilty here of taking OT and expounding on them by trying to fit NT truth into them? Well, I do know there is a lot of that going on these days - but I do believe in this case, my 'expounding' comments will be totally based on Paul. People who read these verses and comments will just have to know I am not trying to make Jeremiah apply to them. Maybe it just makes 'good preaching' - but knowing that the Jews have been through this already - and now seeing and knowing the Gentiles are taking the same train, then this series of verses should make total sense to the readers.
These are just a few 'selected' verses that I have marked for my own use, learning, encouragement, etc. and I just throw in a few comments from myself to be reminders to myself - and to anyone else who may get some benefit from this page.

See the appropriate 'sub-heading' or click on the specific chapters you are seeking for my commentary on the words of Jeremiah that were directed to Israel and how we, as Gentiles, could benefit from them today.
I will be adding more verses and comments over the next few months so keep checking back.
