You can see complete weather systems from miles and miles away so why not hop into your car and see how close you can get to one without getting caught in it! You will see some pics below that would scare the dickens out of you if you were to ever get caught up in one. We had a 16 ounce hail stone (world record) fall about 20 miles from where I was watching a hail storm 'do it's thing'. That would totally ruin your day - as it did that guy's roof!
Maybe I think our storms are the best anywhere because you can see the whole storm system while being out on the prairie, etc. But whatever the reason, it is an exciting adventure when you see them developing! You can watch one come and go - unless it comes and goes on top of you!
You can also just drive across South Dakota for hours and hours and watch the best lightning shows; then you just stop and turn off all your car lights, and soon your eyes will focus on a sky full of stars!!!!! Vunderbar!
