Music is NOT the main issue facing the truth these days. While it has become a major device of Satan over the years, there is still more good music available today than ever before - and all within a simple click of your personal 'rat' on your desk or remote. Remember, if you are truly quickened by the risen Saviour according to the apostle Paul, even considering music, all things (music) are lawful because you are dead to sin and dead to the law!
However, there are still some concerns you always ought to consider for your own music.
1) is your music expedient;
2) does your music put you under the power of it - in other words, are you addicted to music? How long can you exist in silence with no music going into your ears? and
3) does your music edify or tear down - build or destroy - please God or quench or grieve the holy Spirit of God?
When Paul talks about 'thinking' on things, can your music pass the test of Paul's list of what to 'think on?' I'll ask again, "How long can you go without hearing / listening to music. Remember, Silence IS Golden! I bet the older we are, the longer we can live without music - and have you noticed that the young people today simply can't live without their music pounding into their wee little woked brain!
Then within this presentation, we look at a few of the main slides from the recent presentation on "The Rise and Fall of Absolute Music" so that you can order or copy from my website, those pages to help you find some 'absolute' music for your own edification and expediency by looking to the Baroque, Classical and some of the Romantic era music and a list of their composers for you to find on YouTube!
This might even be my final presentation on music, because as I point out in this particular presentation, there are far more serious issues to consider these days than music. While music IS an issue if you don't understand it, but if you truly don't understand it, I really can't help you develop an understanding of music - an 'awareness' is about the best you can do. Seriously, don't let Satan sidetrack you by getting you to be overly concerned and by arguing about music - he wants to keep your mind off the real issues for these latter times.
